The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham), in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Bangladesh, hosted a commemorative event on Saturday, July 04, 2026, at the Sheraton Dhaka to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence.
Marking 250 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, the celebration honored America’s enduring legacy of freedom, democracy, and innovation while reaffirming the strong and longstanding partnership between the United States and Bangladesh, with a shared commitment to economic cooperation and people-to-people ties.
The program commenced with welcome remarks by Mr. Syed Mohammad Kamal, President of AmCham and Vice President of Mastercard. He reflected on the longstanding U.S.βBangladesh partnership, highlighting opportunities to expand bilateral trade and investment further. He also reaffirmed AmCham’s commitment to fostering a more conducive business environment for U.S. investors and strengthening the economic partnership between the two countries.
H.E. Brent T. Christensen, Ambassador of the United States to Bangladesh, emphasized the importance of strengthening the U.S.βBangladesh partnership through greater economic cooperation and mutual growth. He highlighted Bangladesh’s potential and recognized AmCham’s important role in fostering stronger commercial ties between the two countries.
The event also featured a cultural performance of popular American songs celebrating the enduring friendship and shared values between the United States and Bangladesh.
The celebration brought together members of the AmCham Executive Committee, former AmCham Presidents, government officials, diplomats, business leaders, AmCham members, and media representatives, reflecting the depth and diversity of the U.S.βBangladesh partnership.
