Mr. Grove reflected on his 16-year engagement with Bangladesh, noting the importance of U.S.โBangladesh trade ties and the role of digital, real-time, and AI-enabled solutions in improving logistics efficiency.
The dialogue included perspectives from senior leadership of Western Marine Shipyard, MSC Bangladesh, Summit Alliance Port Ltd, Conveyor Logistics, BSAA, CILT Bangladesh, and RSGT Bangladesh. Discussions focused on enhancing U.S. export potential through stronger port and logistics management, expanding investment opportunities, improving the business climate for U.S. investors, and addressing key operational challenges in Bangladeshโs logistics landscape.
In his remarks, Rear Admiral Moniruzzaman highlighted Bangladeshโs fast-paced port modernization, with Chittagong handling over 96% of trade and 98% of containers. He pointed to a forthcoming JICA-backed national port policy, digital upgrades such as e-gates and real-time tracking, and strategic partnerships with global operators including TSC, B2W, Maersk, and MSC. He also emphasized that with more than half of the population under 27, Bangladesh must prioritize capacity building, policy consistency, and global collaboration. Green port development and deep seaport readiness by 2028 will ensure the country is trade-ready by 2030.
