The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham)

hosted a breakfast meeting with the USTR (U.S. Trade Representative) delegation team at the Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel on 22nd April 2024.

Mr. Brendan Lynch, Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for South and Central Asia; Ms. Emily Ashby, Director for South and Central Asia; Ms. Jennifer Oetken, Director for Labor Affairs from USTR; Mr. John Cabeca, IP Counselor for South Asia; Ms. Shilpi Jha, Senior IP Policy Advisor, South Asia and Mr. John Fay, Commercial Counselor and Mr. Joseph Giblin, Economic Unit Chief from the US Embassy Dhaka attended with AmCham President and Executive Committee members. Former AmCham Presidents and a few AmCham members attended the breakfast meeting.

In a discussion on how to develop bilateral trade volume and create new business opportunities to increase the overall FDI in Bangladesh, attendees shared the overview of the existing ecosystem, upcoming opportunities and challenges of foreign trade policy, US dollar rate fluctuation, and system automation issues they faced while operating the business overseas. Both AmCham and the visiting team including USTR committed to collaborating further with each other going forward.
