AmCham Donates to Rotary District Governor for the Welfare of Bangladeshi Flood Victims.

Following the devastation caused by Cyclone Sidr in 2007, the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) extended its support to post-disaster rehabilitation efforts aimed at restoring livelihoods in affected communities. As part of this initiative, Syed Ershad Ahmed, then President of AmCham, formally handed over a contribution to Rafique Ahmed Siddique, then Governor of Rotary International District 3280, to support the rehabilitation of Cyclone Sidr-affected weavers in the western coastal regions of Bangladesh, particularly Barisal and Khulna.
The collaboration focused on strengthening post-disaster recovery through targeted support for affected weaving communities and the development of essential protective infrastructure. By collaborating with Rotary leadership, the initiative sought to enhance community preparedness and protect livelihoods in cyclone-prone regions. This effort underscores AmCham’s role in supporting long-term rehabilitation initiatives through structured partnerships with trusted national and international organizations.
