AmCham Donation to Chief Adviser’s fund for SIDR affected people.

In the aftermath of Cyclone SIDR in 2007, members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) came together to support national relief and rehabilitation efforts in response to one of the country’s most devastating natural disasters. Demonstrating strong solidarity with the Government of Bangladesh, AmCham mobilized collective support through its Cyclone Relief Fund.

From AmCham, Syed Ershad Ahmed, then President of AmCham, formally handed over a contribution to the Honorable Chief Adviser of the Caretaker Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on December 12, 2007. The contribution was made in support of the government’s relief and welfare initiatives aimed at assisting and rehabilitating communities affected by Cyclone SIDR.

The support extended by AmCham members to the Chief Adviser’s Relief and Welfare Fund reflected a shared commitment to national recovery efforts. It reinforced AmCham’s role as a responsible stakeholder working alongside the government during times of crisis. This initiative stands as a testament to the collective social responsibility of AmCham members and their alignment with public-sector efforts to support affected populations.
