The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) held a dialogue on “Bangladesh’s Business and Investment Climate: From Challenges to Competitiveness”, on November 30, 2025, at the Holiday Inn Dhaka. The event was supported by Betopia Group.
The session was graced by Mr. Mahbubur Rahman, Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, who was joined by a senior delegation from the Ministry. The dialogue brought together senior representatives from multiple government bodies, including the Ministries of Industries, Foreign Affairs, Finance, ICT, the National Board of Revenue (NBR), BIDA, and other relevant bodies.
Participants stressed that enhancing Bangladesh’s business and investment climate is an immediate priority. Discussions covered the need for improved logistics efficiency, smoother customs processes, and greater regulatory predictability to support both local and foreign investors. They also highlighted priorities such as energy security, digital trade facilitation, policy continuity, incentives for the reuse and recycling industries and stronger coordination among government agencies to improve global competitiveness. The session underscored the importance of sustained government–private sector collaboration to achieve long-term economic goals.
Mr. Paul Frost, Commercial Counselor, U.S. Embassy, Dhaka, attended the program, reflecting the continued commitment to strengthening U.S.–Bangladesh trade and investment cooperation.
Members of the AmCham Executive Committee, Mr. Moinul Huq, Country Manager, Citi N.A., and Mr. Rashed Mujib Noman, Managing Director, Augmedix Bangladesh, joined other distinguished AmCham members and industry leaders in the dialogue. The event partner Betopia Group’s Founder & CEO, Mr. Muhammad Monir Hossain was also present. The dialogue was moderated by Mr. Chowdhury Kaiser Mohammad Riyadh, Executive Director, AmCham.
