AmCham Bangladesh hosted its Post-Budget Panel Discussion, “National Budget FY2026–27: Building Confidence & Competitiveness for Investment-Led Growth,” bringing together business leaders, policymakers, and economists to discuss the implications of the proposed national budget.



The session opened with remarks from AmCham President Mr. Syed Mohammad Kamal, Vice President, Mastercard, who welcomed several positive budget measures supporting sustainability, entrepreneurship, and renewable energy, while emphasizing the need for further reforms to strengthen investor confidence and competitiveness. Dr. M. Masrur Reaz, Chairman and CEO of Policy Exchange Bangladesh, delivered the keynote presentation, highlighting the budget’s pro-investment direction while noting challenges related to revenue mobilization, inflation, and implementation.
The panel discussion was moderated by Mr. Ala Uddin Ahmad, Vice President of AmCham and CEO of MetLife Bangladesh. The panel featured Mr. Syed Mohammad Kamal, President of AmCham and Vice President of Mastercard; Mr. Naser Ezaz Bijoy, former CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Bangladesh; Dr. Fahmida Khatun, Executive Director of CPD; and Mr. Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, Chairman and CEO of PRAN-RFL Group. The discussion focused on revenue mobilization, private sector access to finance, inflationary pressures, social protection, and the importance of effective policy implementation to achieve sustainable economic growth.
The event was attended by members of the AmCham Executive Committee, former AmCham Presidents, officials from the U.S. Embassy, senior government representatives, AmCham members, business leaders, media personnel and Mr. Chowdhury Kaiser Mohammad Riyadh, Executive Director of AmCham.
