POLICY ADVOCACY MEETING WITH THE VICE-CHAIRMAN, EXPORT PROMOTION BUREAU (EPB)

On May 21, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham)

held a Policy Advocacy Meeting with the Vice-Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and the Administrator of BGMEA Mr. Md. Anwar Hossain. The meeting was attended by AmCham President Mr. Syed Ershad Ahmed, Executive Director Mr. Chowdhury Kaiser Mohammad Riyadh, along with Mr. Anders Sjoblom, Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Fehmi M. Yüksel, Chief Transformation Officer of RBD Fibers Limited—a wholly U.S.-owned company operating under Recover™, a global leader in high-quality, sustainable recycled cotton fibers. The discussion focused on strategies for export diversification and fostering a circular economy in Bangladesh, contributing toward reducing the US-Bangladesh trade imbalance. The delegation from RBD Fibers highlighted their commitment to expanding operations and investment in the country, while also addressing key policy challenges. They stressed the importance of creating an enabling environment for sustainable business practices and called for VAT exemptions on recycled cotton fiber and raw materials, along with equal treatment to imported virgin cotton—which is VAT-exempt—to support the growth of environmentally responsible industries in Bangladesh.
