The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) hosted a focus group discussion on Powering Bangladesh Toward Energy Security on December 09, 2025, at the Sheraton Dhaka Hotel (Arial – Level 14). Chevron Bangladesh supported the event.
Mr. Syed Ershad Ahmed, President of AmCham Bangladesh, delivered the opening remarks, underscoring the collective commitment to building a secure, affordable, and future-ready energy ecosystem for Bangladesh. He highlighted the critical importance of energy security across all sectors and the need for expert insights to guide AmCham’s policy advocacy and future engagements.
Participants emphasized the urgent need to strengthen Bangladesh’s energy landscape through better regulatory governance, streamlined approvals, and targeted policy reforms. Key discussions focused on addressing gaps in gas and power infrastructure, improving generation efficiency, expanding renewables, and enhancing supply-chain reliability—from LNG security to transmission and distribution performance. The dialogue also underscored the importance of developing a skilled energy workforce and deepening U.S.–Bangladesh collaboration in power, gas, LNG, and clean technology solutions.
Mr. Paul Frost, Commercial Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, moderated the session, reflecting the continued commitment to strengthening U.S.–Bangladesh trade and investment cooperation. The event was also attended by Mr. Eric M. Walker, AmCham Vice President; Prof. M. Tamim, PhD, Vice Chancellor, IUB; AmCham members; and senior executives from key Power & Energy Industries.
