Strengthening Global Ties: AmCham Bangladesh at the SG60 IPS-SBF Conference

𝐌𝐫. 𝐒𝐲𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐀𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐝, attended the 𝐒𝐆𝟔𝟎 𝐈𝐏𝐒-𝐒𝐁𝐅 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 on 29 July 2025 at the Sands Grand Ballroom, Singapore, on an invitation from AmCham Singapore. The conference brought together global leaders and thinkers to discuss the future of the global economy amid rising uncertainty. It began with a dialogue between 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐧𝐠, and IPS Director 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐧, focusing on Singapore’s role in an evolving international landscape.

Session One, “𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲,” examined the decline of multilateralism, US-China technological tensions, and shifts in global value chains, with insights from 𝐌𝐬. 𝐖𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐂𝐮𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐫, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐮𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐛 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐫𝐢, and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐚𝐯𝐢 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐧.

Session Two, “𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬,” explored the rise of regional groupings and “𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥” agreements, featuring 𝐃𝐫. 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐆𝐢𝐥𝐥, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐉𝐢𝐚 𝐐𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐠𝐮𝐨, and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐓𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐠. A keynote address was delivered by 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐧, 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞, highlighting trade policy imperatives for a fragmented world. The sessions emphasized innovation, collaboration, and resilience for sustainable global growth. The AmCham Bangladesh delegation also met the prominent leaders, including 𝐌𝐫. 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐦 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐡, Leader of the Opposition in Singapore; 𝐌𝐫. 𝐓𝐞𝐨 𝐒𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐠, Executive Chairman of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF); and several senior business leaders.
