The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) hosted a briefing session on the Bangladesh Development Update: April 2026 Edition, presented by the World Bank team led by Mr. Dhruv Sharma, Senior Economist, World Bank.

The session highlighted Bangladesh’s current economic outlook and discussed opportunities to strengthen economic resilience, encourage investment, and support sustainable growth. Discussions focused on areas such as tax and customs modernization, digitization, logistics improvements, financial sector development, capital market growth, and enhancing transparency and governance.

Participants also exchanged views on maintaining a supportive business environment, improving operational efficiency, facilitating trade, and strengthening investor confidence to support long-term economic growth and employment generation.

AmCham President Mr. Syed Ershad Ahmed, Treasurer Mr. Al Mamun M Rashel, EC Members Ms. Rubaba Dowla and Mr. Mirza Shajib Raihan, Executive Director Chowdhury Mohammad Kaiser Riyadh, and Joint Secretary Mr. Sanowar Hossain attended the meeting. The World Bank delegation included Mr. Dhruv Sharma, Ms. Sharmin Akter Jahan, Consultant, World Bank Bangladesh, and Ms. Kashfia Mahfuz, Communications Professional, World Bank Bangladesh. Representatives from member companies, including Mr. Hasan Mazhar, Managing Director of Colgate Palmolive ACI (Bangladesh) Pvt. Limited, and Mr. Reza Ur Rahman Mahmud, Managing Director of Philip Morris Bangladesh Ltd., were also present along with other representatives from AmCham member organizations.
